Massage Therapy -Deep Tissue, Tui Na, Qi Gong, Shiatsu, Thai, and Swedish Massage
I provide various bodywork techniques - Deep Tissue, Tui Na, Qi Gong, Shiatsu, Thai, and Swedish Massage. These are combined and tailored based on the condition of each patient at the time of their treatment, to improve flexibility, relieve pain and stress, and promote vitality.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as other healing traditions, it's understood that the body's energy moves through channels (meridians), affecting organs and body systems. When the flow of energy becomes "blocked," pain or unwanted muscle contractions may result. Massaging along these channels restores the natural flow of energy, encouraging the body to heal naturally. My work also increases circulation, improving the oxygen supply required for muscle relaxation. As tension in the body diminishes, pain and fatigue are relieved.
As I massage, I feel the condition of the muscles (tightness, limited range of motion, etc.), as well as the energy of the acupressure points and channels. This helps me determine which techniques I'll combine to most effectively address the condition. As I work, I feel the energy resuming its natural flow, the muscles relaxing, and flexibility increasing.
In 1996 I received my Massage Therapist Certification with Honors from Heartwood Institute in Garberville, California, specializing in Shiatsu Acupressure, Deep Tissue, and Swedish/Esalen Massage. I also received training in Thai Massage, Tui Na (Chinese medical massage) for sports injuries, and Qi Gong (Chinese energy therapy). For eleven years I practiced massage from two chiropractic offices, and I also taught Rehabilitative Stretching and Asian Bodywork for five years at Tennessee Institute of Healing Arts. My business, on West 20th Street in Chattanooga, opened in 2007.

How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My business, on West 20th Street in Chattanooga, opened in 2007.
My parents massaged me as a baby, and when I got older I would massage them as well. Being a Massage Therapist made sense to me because I grew up around it and already knew of the benefits. I also enjoy helping people feel better.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as other healing traditions, it's understood that the body's energy moves through channels (meridians), affecting organs and body systems. When the flow of energy becomes "blocked," pain or unwanted muscle contractions may result. Massaging along these channels restores the natural flow of energy, encouraging the body to heal naturally. My work also increases circulation, improving the oxygen supply required for muscle relaxation. As tension in the body diminishes, pain and fatigue are relieved.
